  Franklin High School initiated a method of attendance record keeping known as “The Swipe System” to begin the ’09-’10 school year. This new method of attendance was initially met with mixed emotions but is likely here to stay because of its efficiency and practicality. Read more...  
  SGA SPONSORS ANNUAL SENIOR CITIZEN PROM  
  On Saturday April 26th, the FHS Student Government Association sponsored its annual Senior Citizen's Prom. What originally started as a way to give FHS alumnie a chance to return to Franklin, has become an exciting event offered to the entire community.

  SAFETY SIMULATOR TEACHES SAFE DRIVING  
 
285 FHS Health I and II students,along with their teachers Mrs. Landes and Mr. Bivens, participated in the Safety SIM on the FHS campus. The Safety SImulator, sponsored by the Pennsylvania DUI Association allows students to feel first hand how alcohol impairs your ability to safely drive a vehicle. FHS DEDICATES NEW ELECTRONIC SIGN

 
 
Despite the inclement weather, FHS alumni and friends joined current principal Kathleen Schmidt and former principal Dean Terry to dedicate the new electronic sign. The Carroll County Times was here to cover the story.
 
  FRANKLIN HOSTS THE FOURTH ANNUAL JIMMY V CHARITY BASKETBALL GAME.  
 
Franklin High School Faculty took on Franklin Middle School Faculty in the 4th annual Battle for the Bell. In an exciting game, Franklin Middle inched passed Franklin High for a win- 67-62. This year both schools raised more than $6000 for cancer research! Thank you to all who participated!

FOR THE FOURTH TIME FHS IS NAMED IN NEWSWEEK MAGAZINE'S LIST OF TOP 5% OF AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOLS

While we are proud of being listed in the “Top 5% of the Nation’s High Schools” by Newsweek Magazine for our Advanced Placement program, we are just as proud of our ability to offer a rigorous instructional program that emphasizes successful academic achievement for all students.  Our ongoing successes on functional tests, HSA exams, and SAT exams attest to the fact that our students take their studies seriously and benefit from “the Franklin Way."

FHS STUDENTS INVEST IN THE ENVIRONMENT!

Students in Mrs. Ella Reid's Environmental Science class spent an afternoon planting trees on Franklin's property to buffer a nearby stream from pollution. To read more about their green contributions, click here.

FRANKLIN SPOTLIGHTED ON WBAL HIGH SCHOOL PLAYBOOK

Franklin High School was the site of the weekly High School Playbook morning broadcast on Halloween!  Bandmembers, cheerleaders, and athletes came to FHS bright and early to cheer for our fall sports teams. Click here to view highlights.

SENIOR TEACHER LAURIE WALKER CHOSEN AS GRAND MARSHALL FOR THE REISTERSTOWN FESTIVAL PARADE
Franklin teacher Laurie Walker was chosen by the senior class of 2008 as the Grand Marshall of the Reisterstown Festival Parade in September. Laurie has taught English for 23 years in Baltimore County Public Schools, CCBC, and Villa Julie College. She currently teaches English 12 and Creative Writing at FHS, where she has taught for 7 years. Although the parade was cancelled due to inclement weather, festival organizers invited her back next year to lead the parade down Main Street.
