AP Students and Families:

Students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses are preparing themselves for college-level work in addition to challenging themselves academically. As the registration for AP exams begins, we have detailed the process for registration, payment, and fees.

This year, students are responsible for the cost of exams, unless your 11th or 12th grader has met College & Career Readiness (CCR) Standards. As outlined in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, BCPS will cover the cost for up to six exams if you have met CCR Standards. There are ways all students, regardless of CCR status, can incur fees. Please pay careful attention to registration dates and deadlines. Please see the following chart for additional exam fee information:

Unused/canceled exam fee

If you decide after the November 5th ordering deadline not to take an exam that was ordered for you, the charge is $40 per exam instead of the full exam fee. The $40 fee applies to any unused or canceled exams, including an exam ordered for a student who qualifies for a College Board fee reduction. It’s important to tell your AP coordinator if you decide not to take an exam.

This fee doesn’t apply if you transfer out of a school.

$40 per exam

Here you will find the Universal Fee Waiver directions from BCPS. Please complete the Universal Fee Waiver electronically in Focus by November 5th, 2024, if applicable, so that your student’s exam fees will be reduced.

To register for AP exams, students must be enrolled in the College Board course online. Students should have received College Board information from their teacher.

Your student needs to complete the AP Registration Form by October 6th, 2024.

All exam payments will be through Franklin’s online payment system. Directions will be included with an invoice that your student will receive based on the exams they are taking.

Details about testing times and locations will be sent in the spring. If you have questions about registration or payment, please contact Mrs. Cavaliere at [email protected] or 443-809-1882.

Sincerely,

Steph Cavaliere, AP Coordinator, Franklin High School
